"Terrorists may skillfully mislead you about their original intent, but their “common goal” is always to kill you. They may have a friendly smile on their faces, wearing suicide bomber belts at the same time. They may tell you the truth you also agree with, but the goal is the same. They may join you to fight their rivals, the “common goal” never changes. They may live next door and treat you as the best neighbor and friend, the “final” goal is still to kill you."
Asked about former president Jimmy Carter’s planned meeting in Damascus with Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal,
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said, “I find it hard to understand what is going to be gained by having discussions with Hamas about peace when Hamas is, in fact, the impediment to peace.” She also said, “Hamas is a terrorist organization.”
