"If terrorists are subjects for "federal criminal justice system", they are not enemies combatants. So, are we at war or not, Mr. Holder? You say "we are at war". Is it more politics than about facts?" - Boris Tiraspolsky

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said: "We are at war against a very dangerous, intelligent and adaptable enemy. We will use all available tools whenever possible against suspected terrorists. ...Our federal civilian criminal justice system... is a powerful tool in our fight against terrorism. It doesn't mean it is the only tool we should use. We have to couple it with what we do on the military side, what we do on the intelligence gathering side. But to take this tool out of our hands, to denigrate the use of this tool, flies in the face of the facts, flies in the face of the history of the use of this tool. It is more politics than about facts."
Comment by Boris Tiraspolsky:
I agree with Attorney General Eric Holder that we are at war. I just wonder why it took so long for him and his boss President Obama to recognize that.
For the entire last year I together with many other people have been constantly asking President Obama:
Why doesn’t he want to admit we’re at war?. That is why I have a reason to doubt how sincere Eric Holder believes in what he is saying.
I do agree with Attorney General that we must "use all available tools whenever possible against suspected terrorists". What I totally disagree with Mr. Holder is that "federal civilian criminal justice system... is a powerful tool in our fight against terrorism."
Mr. Eric Holder should know that there are right tools and wrong tools in conducting human affairs. Using wrong tools does not help to do a job right.
Here is a simple logic. If we are at war, terrorists are enemy combatants. If terrorists are enemies combatants, they cannot be a subject for "federal civilian criminal system". They are subjects for military tribunals.
If terrorists are subjects for "federal criminal justice system", they are not enemies combatants. So, are we at war or not, Mr. Holder? You say "we are at war". Is it more politics than about facts?
