The criminal-terrorist nexus

"While pressure is exerted on “traditional” methods of financing terrorist activities (ie., those that were suddenly obvious after 9/11, such as the use of charites), little is done on fronts that can yield equal, and low risk profits."

Cigarettes and the Criminal-Terrorist Nexus

by Douglas Farah

The minority staff of the House Committee on Homeland Security has, as first reported by Fox News, posted an interesting report on the ties between cigarette smuggling and terrorism. The report focuses primarily on smuggling in New York and the billions of dollars in lost revenues suffered from illicit cigarette sales. But in fact, the smuggling and sales of cigarettes have long been one of the primary life-blood sources of criminals and, increasingly, of terrorist activities. The criminal-terrorist nexus is not new, but it is of growing importance.  Continued...

Alternative to replace virtual fence failure

"One of typical characterizations of modern terrorist warfare is ignoring State Borders of Sovereign States by attacking the States from outside and from within. Among most common terrorist siege techniques is “Trojan Horse” of a massive legal and illegal immigrations resulting in establishing so-called “peaceful communities” on a territory of a State-target. By abusing traditional hospitality, these “peaceful communities” tend to grow into a sophisticated Terrorist Support System within State-targets." - Boris Tiraspolsky

Border Fence Fiasco
By Chuck Norris

This past week, Customs and Border Protection officials reported that two months after Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff approved a $20 million virtual fence along a 28-mile stretch in Arizona (called Project 28), the fence was scrapped as impractical and ineffective. Continued...

The ideological parallel

"The ideological parallel is the foundational similarity between the Cold War and the Long War. In both, the liberal West faces an adversarial ideology that is both universalist (that is: to be spread world-wide) and totalitarian (in that it seeks control over all aspects of life). In other words, the competing ideology is inherently incompatible with Western principles of pluralism and liberty. Islamism, however, will prove more difficult for the West to combat on an ideological level."

The Long War
The War on Terror, reconsidered
By Russ Gottwald

The War on Terror, or the Long War as President Bush has restyled it, shares many features of the Cold War. Both of them are, at root, ideological conflicts perceived very differently by the respective adversaries. Both sets of ideologies contain internal fissures and (to a certain degree) state sponsors of their dominant strains of thought. Both feature proxy and paramilitary campaigns, but (at least as of yet) no direct conflicts between the primary state sponsors. Finally, neither offers the possibility of a purely military victory in the vein of the triumph over Fascism; indeed, a hallmark of victory in the Long War will be that the losing ideology, rather than being truly defeated, will be marginalized the way that Marxism has been. Continued...

U.S. Anti-Terrorist National Character

"Character is a undeniably one of the most significant categories of Human Culture." - Boris Tiraspolsky

First U.S. National Characters - Founding Fathers of the Nation
_____________________________________

Historic Call for U.S. Anti-Terrorist National Character

In the current “crises of human affairs”, threatening the very existence of the Western Civilization, one Nation - the People of the United States - have to take a leading role on the Historical Stage, and “preserve, protect and defend“ material and cultural values of the Mankind. There is no doubt, this is the single most important development for the youngest of the Great Nations and the oldest Constitutional Republic in the Modern History. It is the righteous call with expectations to avert the unfolding calamity in battle with Terror.

Absolute success of the noble endeavor of combating Terrorism can be neither guaranteed, nor can come miraculously by itself. However, victory in battle with Terror is never an exercise in futility, if the Nation precisely defines own Historic Mission (Read more...) and meticulously identifies true National Character (Read more...) capable of accomplishing that Historic Mission.

These two conditions represent a set of practical ideas essential for a survival of the Nation in the current sinister stage of battle with Terror. In other words, Historic Mission and National Character are fundamental anti-terrorist Ideological Principles demonstrating maturity of the Nation, and ability of the People of the United States to lead in “life or death“ battle for survival of the Civilization.

Therefore, it is crucial that principles of the Nation’s Historic Mission must be plain enough to be grasped and accepted by many in the United States. It is imperative that Ethics and Esthetics of National Character need to be universal enough in order to be recognized by that many and consequently, unite the exceptionally diverse citizenry of the country in battle.

Character is a undeniably one of the most significant categories of Human Culture. It is an embodiment of thousands years of cultural evolution of Man chained by powerful natural instincts - primarily territorial and survival. Character represents a long way taken by Man from the darkness of his biological dependency on instincts to Liberty and Sovereignty of almost ideal Human Being - embodiment of absolute Ethics and perfect Esthetics of the original Image and the original Likeness of his Creator.

In its own term, National Character is “E Pluribus Unum” - a personification and manifestation of the very best cultural properties of many in ONE. It is the Role Model of the Nation at a time of battle with Terror. National Character is a paramount of a historical development of the American people going from serving own self-centered and narrow political, economic, social interests to benevolent pledge of own Life and Fortune to support Ideals of the Mankind incorporated in the Nation’s Historic Mission.

Development of anti-terrorist National Character - Homeland Defender being able to withstand physical and ideological enemy’s power is a must in opposition to rapidly multiplying numbers of Ideological Collaborators with enemy. This requires a role modeling after great National Characters - patriots of the past, advanced anti-terrorist education on all levels, and profound anti-terrorist ideological training for all U.S. Military and all U.S. anti-terrorist Civilian Self-Defense Forces, the current and future. (Read more...)

The virtual Islamic jihad

"In March 2006, the DGSE (Direction Générale de la Sécurité Exterieure), the French equivalent of the CIA, tracked down a forum where jihadists recruited hackers to destroy "infidels'" Web sites and government sites. The jihadists recommended: "If you can't slash their throats, then at least destroy their sites." And on May 15, 2006 the Metz, France police arrested a young man who, under the alias Yanis, had attacked 1,161 sites including 710 linked to the Muhammad cartoons controversy."

Europe facing radicalization over the Web
By OLIVIER GUITTA

A few months ago Bernard Squarcini the head of the DST (Direction de la Surveillance du Territoire), the French equivalent of the FBI, told the French daily Libération regarding Islamic radicalization: "An ideological transformation can be done in three months on the Web. An individual can at night auto-radicalize himself via the Web and get in touch with leaders of terrorist organizations." This assessment shows how dire the situation is in Europe when it comes to al-Qaida's use of the Web. Continued...

Islamist terrorist are seeking nuclear materials

"Are there some people out there who still entertain their hopes of forever deterring terrorist attacks on the American soil? Does anyone still believe that terrorists are not going to use Weapons of Mass Destruction - nuclear, chemical, biological - against the U.S. population when an opportunity comes?" - Boris Tiraspolsky

The world's leading anti-democratic force

"Muslims can modernize their religion, but that requires major changes: Out go waging jihad to impose Muslim rule, second-class citizenship for non-Muslims and death sentences for blasphemy or apostasy. In come individual freedoms, civil rights, political participation, popular sovereignty, equality before the law and representative elections."

Islam and democracy can coexist
By Daniel Pipes

There's an impression that Muslims suffer disproportionately from the rule of dictators, tyrants, unelected presidents, kings, emirs and various other strongmen - and it's accurate. A careful analysis by Frederic L. Pryor of Swarthmore College in the Middle East Quarterly (Are Muslim Countries Less Democratic?) concludes, "In all but the poorest countries, Islam is associated with fewer political rights." Continued...

Ignoring the totalitarian ideology of Islamism

"...pattern of U.S. concessions to global Islamism bears the clear and unambiguous message of the U.S. government's "surrender" to the global forces of Islamism. In effect, the current U.S. administration is telling Islamists that America is already tired of fighting, and that Islamists can go about their efforts to control the world as long as they do it peacefully."

Who is America Fighting - Jihadists or Extremists?
By Jeffrey Imm

Now we officially know the answer - the U.S. Government states that America is definitely not fighting "jihadists", based on new guidelines directing federal agencies not to even use the term "jihadist". So who is America fighting? Defense Secretary Robert Gates tells us: "the enemy is extremism". Continued...

The meaningless war with words

Comment by Boris Tiraspolsky: Here is a passage from another recent bureaucratic attempt of the U.S. Government to combat Terrorism ideologically: "Language is critical in the war on terror, says another [U.S. Government] doc-ument, an internal "official use only" memorandum circulating through Washington entitled "Words that Work and Words that Don't: A War guide for Counterterrorism Communication."

I am positive that the problem is not in the "language" the U.S. Government uses, or more precisely bans to use. And never has been! The problem is a lack of appropriate U.S. Ideological Instruments - anti-terrorist Education, anti-terrorist PR, that is in fact the Instrument of anti-terrorist propaganda, and anti-terrorist "useful Arts" (Read more...). This very problem creates a confusion in what "ideological struggle" is and turns the latter in the meaningless "war with words" replacing necessary war with "wrong ideologies" and "ideology of no ideology".

'Jihadist' booted from government lexicon

War on Terror - bureaucratic view

Comment by Boris Tiraspolsky: I usually make my comments after a quote. This time it is an exception. Mr. Juan Zarate, deputy national security advisor for combating terrorism said: "We know the War on Terror -- with its embedded struggle against a violent extremist ideology -- is a generational calling that requires the entire U.S. government and the international community to act." This is a common position of the current Administration. It is a typical view that contradicts both a general theory of modern warfare and goes against the nature of the War on Terror that requires first and foremost an unprecedented ideological and economic cooperation of the U.S. Government with the American people who are currently totally armless in "struggle against a violent extremist ideology". (Read more...) Without this ideological and economic unity of the Government and the People of the United States there is no victory in battle with Terror, and all wonderful words about winning the War on Terror by Mr. Juan Zarate turn into another bureaucratic "hot air".

Winning the War on Terror:
Marking Success and Confronting Challenges

Economic faze of terrorist warfare

"...any weak spot in production of basic material necessities by the National Economy could be taken advantage of with a price manipulation at a time of peace, and a potential threat of using lack of basic material necessities as Economic Weaponry against nations and states at a time of war." - Boris Tiraspolsky

The Soaring Price of Oil and Terrorism
By Victor Comras

A few days ago, when oil was just $115.00 per barrel, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared that the price of oil was still “unrealistically low,” and that “Oil … needs to discover its real value." And, within a few days the market seemed to comply driving the price up to $120.00 per barrel! The effects of this spiraling oil price on the US and world economy has been staggering, and the impact will continue to be intensified as the price of oil works its way through the international economic system. Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups could never had imagined that events they set off at the turn of the millennium could ever have caused such oil dislocation and demand around the world. Continued...

Pure terrorist propaganda

"To try and describe USA vs. Al-Arian as a doc-umentary is to attempt to change the definition of the word. It is pure propaganda, made only to show a family of Palestinian extremists in a good light."

Terrorist Cries and Lies

By Joe Kaufman

The movie USA vs. Al-Arian, about the trial of Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Sami Al-Arian, has been released to the public via the internet. Its producers refer to it as a “doc-umentary.” That is just as much of a fable as the way the terrorist’s family has been portrayed in the film. Continued...

God of peace, bring your peace to our violent world

Pope Benedict XVI began the final day of his American journey by blessing the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and pleading with God to bring "peace to our violent world."

who gather today at this site,
