Ideological attacks against Rush Limbaugh

First attack: When CNN's D.L. Hughley referred to radio host Rush Limbaugh as "the de facto leader of the Republican party." "No he's not. I'm the de facto leader of the Republican party," Michael Steele said. The RNC chief went on to call Rush Limbaugh an entertainer. "Rush Limbaugh's whole thing is entertainment. Yes, it is incendiary. Yes, it is ugly." 

Comment by Rush Limbaugh: "So I am an entertainer and I have 20 million listeners because of my great song and dance routine. Michael Steele, you are head of the Republican National Committee. You are not head of the Republican party. Tens of millions of conservatives and Republicans have nothing to do with the Republican National Committee... and when you call them asking for money, they hang up on you. I hope that changes. It's time, Mr. Steele, for you to go behind the scenes and start doing the work that you were elected to do instead of being some talking-head media star."


Second attack: The Huffington Post web site published the following article Limbaugh Misquotes Constitution During CPAC Speech  that I have taken a liberty to repost in-full below: 
 
"During his much-discussed keynote address at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday, Rush Limbaugh accused Barack Obama of pursuing the "bastardization of the U.S. Constitution."

It was one of the more politically acidic notes in a speech defined by rambling political assaults. But the conservative talk show host wasn't exactly standing on firm footing. Just a few moments earlier he himself had actually -- not theoretically -- "bastardized" the Constitution by confusing it with the Declaration of Independence.


We want every American to be the best he or she chooses to be. We recognize that we are all individuals. We love and revere our founding documents, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. [Applause] We believe that the preamble to the Constitution contains an inarguable truth that we are all endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life. [Applause] Liberty, Freedom. [Applause] And the pursuit of happiness. [Applause] Those of you watching at home may wonder why this is being applauded. We conservatives think all three are under assault. [Applause] Thank you. Thank you.
Limbaugh, it seems, meant to say "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness," which, of course, is in the Declaration of Independence. Just to be sure, however, the Constitutional Accountability Center compared his remarks to the Constitution's preamble, and didn't find a match.

Here is the Constitution's Preamble: "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

In the end, of course, Limbaugh's gaffe was just that: a rhetorical hiccup in an otherwise long (the speech went on for 90 minutes) and brash address. Still, in the process of accusing Obama for a lack of reverence of the Constitution, it would have undoubtedly served him better to have properly recognized the Constitution himself."

Rush Limbaugh is famous for his eloquence, improvisations and a true gift of a great orator. 

His speech at CPAC was not read, but delivered in Rush's usual free style well known to all his listeners for the last more then twenty years.  

The above accusations that Rush "misquotes Constitution" have no ground, whatsoever. The problem is in misquoting Rush Limbaugh by the Huffington post web site.

Think for yourself!

Rush said: "We love and revere our founding documents, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence." After that he said: "We believe that the preamble to the Constitution contains an inarguable truth..."

There is nothing wrong here, so far. The problem of misquoting Rush by the Huffington Post web site begins ironically after the word "truth".

If they would have been less bias, they could have  put just a simple comma after the word "truth" in the transcript of the speech and only then they would have continued to quote Rush Limbaugh: "that we are all endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life. [Applause] Liberty, Freedom. [Applause] And the pursuit of happiness".

I sincerely recommend the Huffington Post web site to use more common sense next time. That could have certainly prevented them from my accusation in obvious and intentional misquoting Rush Limbaugh.

A servant of two masters

President Bush was interested in hearing different points of view, but he didn't go out of the way to make sure everybody spoke if they hadn't spoken before."

Comment by Boris Tiraspolsky. "To hear from everyone" is a valuable property described by Secretary Gates. Is that property truly reflects Obama's analytical skills? I am not sure about that.

I recall one of Obama's "contributions" to a military theory made not long ago: "“I am not opposed to all wars. I'm opposed to dumb wars.” This quote sounds on a surface so smooth, so lapidary, so eloquent, that one could not notice a total lack of common sense, at a first glance. 

There are different types of war I know: offensive and defensive wars, local and global wars, regular and asymmetric wars, conventional and people’s or rather guerrilla wars. Thanks to Obama's "discovery" now we may have “dumb wars”.

What does Obama mean? “Dumb” strategy, “dumb” tactics , “dumb” planning, “dumb” coordination. I am perplexed. The term “dumb wars”. does not make any sense to me when it comes to total modern terrorist warfare.

I honestly have no idea what “dumb wars” mean. However, I certainly know that the President of the United States at a time of war must not make reckless statements related to war, and of course, to be the man of common sense as the Commander-in-Chief. I have no doubt Secretary of Defense Robert Gates knows that too.

Comment by Boris Tiraspolsky: In order not "to find ourselves in the midst of chaos, confusion and civil war" the Republican Party must take the following five steps to "preserve, protect and defend" the practical ideas and ideals of the Constitution of the United States:

Step 1. The Republican party needs to reassess a role of the Democratic Party and to recognize it as the Party of "wrong ideology": political, economic, social and cultural, representing interests of Bureaucracies - Federal, State, Local and all those who support these Bureaucracies.

Step 2. The Republican Party needs to take an initiative in introducing widely the Ideology of the U.S. Constitution to be as Abraham Lincoln said "the political religion of the nation", representing interests of the People of the United States.

Step 3. The Republican Party needs to redefine own role from just an Instrument utilized for an election process to become a united Ideological Leader of the Nation, political, economic, social. cultural - the Party of Ideology of the Constitution of the United States.

Step 4. The Republican Party needs to form and establish own Ideological Force of Public Instructors functioning on a permanent bases all year around in every municipality of the country; the Public Instructors  must promote the Ideological Platform of the Republican Party: merge of conservative views and absolute Ethics and Perfect Esthetics of the U.S. Constitution for grassroots supporters, all interested parties and general population.

Step 5. The Republican Party needs to develop working superior Ideological Instruments in ongoing ideological Battle with "wrong ideology" of the Democratic Party; these Ideological Instruments include Education and Training for rank and file Members of the Republican Party, ideologically charged PR and "useful Arts" - more specifically Useful Performing Arts advancing the Ideological Platform of the Republican Party.

Attorney General Holder said: "Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial, we have always been, and we, I believe, continue to be, in too many ways, a nation of cowards. Though race-related issues continue to occupy a significant portion of our political discussion, and though there remain many unresolved racial issues in this nation, we, average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about things racial.

It is an issue that we have never been at ease with, and given our nation's history, this is in some way, understandable. And yet, if we are to make progress in this area, we must feel comfortable enough with one another, and tolerant enough of each other to have frank conversations about the racial matters that continue to divide us."

Comment by Boris Tiraspolsky: It looks odd and dubious when the ruling Party that has currently the black elected President, the black Attorney General and a number of other black top officials begins to raise an issue of a race problem in America and returns to rhetoric of the past under the garnish of integration “black history into our culture”.
 
I just wonder where did a political appointee and career bureaucrat Mr. Holder see a “disintegration” of black history from “our culture” for the last time? Does he also believe that the Constitution of the United States was written by White Supremacists?

Mr. Holder complains that “in things racial, we have always been, and we, I believe, continue to be, in too many ways, a nation of cowards”. So, I recommend Mr. Holder to read the article by Tom Adkins that was written right after the victory of Barack Obama - The Era of White Guilt is over
  
Why is Mr. Holder trying to prove otherwise? “…race-related issues continue to occupy a significant portion of our political discussion, and though there remain many unresolved racial issues in this nation, we, average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about things racial”.

The answer is simple “average Americans” do not talk “about things racial” because there are much more important things to talk about : economic crisis, terrorist war. “Because the vast majority of white Americans didn't give a fluff about skin color, and enthusiastically pulled the voting lever for a black man.” As Tom Adkins also pointed out “in the 60s, American liberals began yanking that millstone while sticking a fork in the eye of black Americans, exacerbating the racial divide to extort a socialist solution.” 

The current attempt by Mr. Holder to return the Era of White Guilt is a sinister sign of the ruling Party’s ideological bankruptcy. Lacking true creativity these bureaucrats offer old hat socialist recipes to solve problems facing the Nation. These recipes never worked. That seems to be a true reason for provoking a new artificial spiral of racial issue in order to blame in own failure somebody else - “a nation of cowards“.

Question: Mr. President, do you think that Pakistan and -- are maintaining the safe havens in Afghanistan for these so-called terrorists?

Comment by Boris Tiraspolsky:
This question could be directed to someone who is either mentally retarded, or by a some reason has never read newspapers, watched television, listen to a radio, or used the Internet in the duration of the last seven years, at least.

President Obama:
Well, I think that Pakistan -- there is no doubt that, in the FATA region of Pakistan, in the mountainous regions along the border of Afghanistan, that there are safe havens where terrorists are operating.

Comment by Boris Tiraspolsky:
President Obama is not a mentally retarded person! He even knows what an enigmatic abbreviation “the FATA region of Pakistan” is. Frankly, I did not know that. So, I learned something knew here: FATA means the Federally Administered Tribal Areas in Pakistan bordering Afghanistan. Alas! That was the only new thing I learned from the president Obama’s answer.

President Obama (continues):
And one of the goals of Ambassador Holbrooke, as he is traveling throughout the region, is to deliver a message to Pakistan that they are endangered as much as we are by the continuation of those operations and that we've got to work in a regional fashion to root out those safe havens.

Now, I have my question to president Obama. What have the U.S. Military and the NATO been doing out there for the last seven years? Haven’t they tried “to root out those save havens”?

President Obama (continues):
  It's not acceptable for Pakistan or for us to have folks who, with impunity, will kill innocent men, women and children. And, you know, I -- I believe that the new government of Pakistan and -- and Mr. [President Asif Ali] Zardari cares deeply about getting control of the situation. We want to be effective partners with them on that issue.

Comment by Boris Tiraspolsky:
I understand that “we want to be effective partners” with Pakistan. The similar line I heard from president Obama about Iran, too. However, the problem is whether the governments of Pakistan, Iran and other Islamic States sincerely want the same. I got lost here. And it seems that I was not the only one who got lost at that point.

Well, Mr. Holbrooke is there, and that's exactly why he's being sent there, because I think that we have to make sure that Pakistan is a stalwart ally with us in battling this terrorist threat.

: The above statement by president Obama is an example of a lack of coherent international policy. I want to remind that the recent change of the government in Pakistan happened primarily because the old Pakistani Administration was “battling this terrorist threat“ as a close ally with the United States. Now Pakistan Agrees to Enforce Islamic Law in Swat Valley. Therefore, will Pakistan that supports Taliban in the FATA region continue to be “a stalwart ally with us“ remains to be a big question. Why didn’t president Obama tell us the truth, then?
