Useful Arts in American past and future

In a very general sense “useful Arts” are human creative works instrumental in organizing “more perfect” way of life - politically, economically, socially, and culturally."

"Useful Art"of Fifers and Drummers -
communication system in battles of the past
______________________________________

Advanced form of communication system in battle with Terror

With the onset of war in 1775, Virginia began to train an army to defend against an inevitable British invasion. At that time the American colonies did not have an army. There were very few trained military professionals. Forming an army required people who knew how to organize an army. America needed people who could supply the troops with uniforms, equipment, and food. Men who could teach, drill, and the manual of arms were scarce.

In Virginia, two men—Thomas Sterling and Thomas Hookins—offered their services teaching fifers and drummers - boys from age ten to eighteen. These young musicians were essential for every army at that time. They were the military communications system, regulating the soldiers' day in camp and providing signals to the troops in battle. Virginians badly needed “useful Arts” of fifers and drummers in future battlefields for their Independence.

In spite of a true understanding of an extreme necessity of “useful Arts” at that time, as well as a widely used term by the People of the Era of Enlightenment, the subject of “useful Arts” had been a question since the very moment the term had appeared as an integral part of the text of the Constitution of the United States (Article I, section 8). The only known articulate definition of the term came from Benjamin Franklin himself.

At the time of forming the text of the Constitution of the United States, Benjamin Franklin was asked by someone about “useful Arts”. He replied, that fifers and drummers playing music on a parade are “Entertainment“ and “Entertainers“, but the very same fifers and drummers playing the very same music on a battlefield are “useful Arts“ and Warriors. The definition given by Benjamin Franklin is absolutely correct. However, it is very far from being complete.

Useful Arts” are much greater then just “fifers and drummers”. The truth of the matter is that the very text of the Constitution of the United States was a work of “useful Arts” by itself, irreversibly abandoning the old medieval Ideology of Absolutism and Monarchism for the “new order of Ages” - Ideology of Representative Republic. The latter forever altered Fate of the new born Nation by changing a perception of a common man from being a “royal subject” to a Free and Sovereign Individual, the Master of own Fate.

In a very general sense “useful Arts” are human creative works instrumental in organizing “more perfect” way of life - politically, economically, socially, and culturally. “Useful Arts” are Ideological Instruments that were indispensable for the creation of the Nation. “Useful Arts” such as the pattern of the U.S. Flag, the poetic language and music of the U.S. Anthem, the design of the U.S. Great Seal, the striking architecture of the National Capital, and etc. are the bond for uniting the Nation. It is impossible to maintain neither a well-being of the Nation at a Time of Peace, nor at a Time of War without ideologically charged “useful Arts”.

Fifers and drummers were basic, although, critical Instruments of “useful Arts“ of the eighteenth-century military. Just as Virginia enlisted soldiers and stockpiled arms and ammunition, it also trained fifers and drummers to work with soldiers in the field. Fate of the new born Nation was literally in hands of those courageous boys - the Warriors providing necessary communications system on battlefields. In more then two hundred years the Nation desperately needs new Instruments of “useful Arts” in battle with Terror.

“Human reason” for “the Progress... of useful Arts” is to form advanced “communication system” between different parts of the Nation - governments, population, political elites, intellectual elites, business community, military, and etc. - for a joint effort in combating Terrorism domestically and abroad. “Useful Arts” are vital for sustaining the Will of the Nation to resist Terror and maintaining Fate of the Nation “to form a more perfect Union“ ordered by a human reason of the Constitution of the United States. Great German writer Thomas Mann once said, “Human reason needs only to will more strongly then Fate, and she is Fate.”

Lines of defense in battle with Terror

"It is possible that some lines of the U.S. anti-terrorist System of Defense may fail. It is also possible that some of them may be not perfect enough, and new more perfect anti-terrorist lines of defense will be developed in the future. However, it is categorically wrong and impracticable not to have them at all in battle with Terror on the American soil." - Boris Tiraspolsky
Development of U.S. Anti-Terrorist System of Defense

Plan for the Defenses of the Dutch Town of Breda

Fortified in 1534 the town of Breda withstood numerous sieges. The Compromise of Breda in February 1566 marked the beginning of the revolt of the Netherlands against Spanish rule. The Peace of Breda in 1667 ended the second naval war with Britain and recognized Dutch ownership of the East Indies. The town's fortifications again played an important part during the wars with the French in 1793-95 and 1813.

Ten Lines of Anti-Terrorist Defense

Modern global terrorist warfare is in fact unconventional type of a slow pace, oddly fragmented, siege warfare with strategic objectives to exhaust human and economic resources of States being under terrorist attack. For that terrorist-aggressors utilize conventional and unconventional siege techniques and weapons, including, but not limited to Weapons of Mass Destruction.

This newest type of modern warfare, in which Islamic jihad plays just one of many “odd fragments” of, is almost infinite in time and topography total World War. Based on already existing modern technology, it is staging an unprecedented siege of entire states, regardless of a size and population, and regardless of how small Terrorist Force is.

The latter makes it possible for modern warfare to become what they call a “proxy war“. In the “proxy war” Real Players intended to destroy the United States, for instance, never appear on battlefield. They never directly plan, finance, operate, and coordinate “spectacular terrorist attacks”. In the “proxy war” Real Players - Ideological Enemies of the Nation are “invisible”, making most unbelievable “conspiracy theories“ come true.

One of typical characterizations of modern terrorist warfare is ignoring State Borders of Sovereign States by attacking the States from outside and from within. Among most common terrorist siege techniques is “Trojan Horse” of a massive legal and illegal immigrations resulting in establishing so-called “peaceful communities” on a territory of a State-target. By abusing traditional hospitality, these “peaceful communities” tend to grow into a sophisticated Terrorist Support System within State-targets.

The most recent development of terrorist siege techniques is inserting militia-guerilla type conclaves into already established “Trojan Horse” communities, and turning them into “Terrorist State” within a legitimate State. That allows to provoke all sorts of disturbances, sabotages, and riots from within the State. Eventually, “home grown” terrorists, their ideological collaborators and financial supporters are able to take over a control of legitimate State either by winning “democratic“ elections, or by using force.

Needless to stress, this kind of total warfare on the American soil requires exceptionally strong and advanced U.S. Military, Law Enforcement, Intelligence for combating Terrorism. It also calls for development of new strategic anti-terrorist Ideological and Economic Instruments and Forces of U.S. Civilian Self-Defense that are a must for withstanding unconventional terrorist siege. They are necessary for strengthening the Will of the Nation to resist Terror and survival of the Union.

Evidently, modern terrorist warfare also compels developing suitable lines of defense against terrorist-aggressors from outside and “Trojan Horse” within. The Nation needs extended contra-siege fortifications and comprehensive contra-siege techniques necessary for creation of a gigantic anti-terrorist “country-citadel“ that entails National Anti-Terrorist Defense System with the following ten lines of anti-terrorist defense.

1. First line of U.S. anti-terrorist Defense - secure National Borders with Mexico and Canada;

2. Second line of U.S. anti-terrorist Defense - secure State Borders of all States of the Union;

3. Third line of U.S. anti-terrorist Defense - establish secure borders of all American Cities and Towns;

4. Fifth line of U.S. anti-terrorist Defense -   detailed evacuation plans and evacuation procedures for all  Metropolitan areas in case of "no return to a status quo" catastrophic scenarios (Read more...);

5. Forth line of U.S. anti-terrorist Defense - emergency escape expressways from high populated areas;

6. Sixth line of U.S. anti-terrorist Defense - temporally places of safety for the U.S. population in “no return to a status quo” catastrophic scenarios;

7. Seventh line of U.S. anti-terrorist Defense - permanent places of safety for the U.S. population in “no return to a status quo” catastrophic scenarios;

8. Eighth line of U.S. anti-terrorist Defense - Instruments and Forces for restoration Economy of Basic Necessities (Read more...)  for victims of "no return to a status quo" catastrophic scenarios;

9. Ninth line of U.S. anti-terrorist Defense - superior Intelligence for early detection and prevention terrorist acts on the American soil;

10.  Tenth line of U.S. anti-terrorist Defense - superior Military capable of attacking enemy at any place and any time.

The Golden Future of America

"The idea of a Golden Age has had a profound impact on the western thought. There is no doubt that the Golden Age was a realistic dream on minds of “the architects of These States ” too."

The Golden Future of Ameria
by Robert Indiana

The Road Map to the Future of the Nation

"How used you the Great Seal of England?"
"To crack nuts with!"
Mark Twain, The Prince and the Pauper

Great American poet and philosopher Walt Whitman once said about America: "The architects of These States laid their foundations, and passed to further, spheres... Now are needed other architects, whose duty is not less difficult, but perhaps more difficult. Each age forever needs architects. America is not finished, perhaps never will be; now America is a divine true sketch."

These remarkable words about America being a “sketch” of “useful Arts”, were written about hundred fifty years ago. Therefore, there is a great deal of a need for a careful inspection of how America evolved from “a divine true sketch” of “useful Arts” into a divine true masterpiece it was originally intended to be by “the architects of These States”. Let’s take a look at the “true sketch” and boldly compare it to Reality we are currently in.

We casually encounter the “divine true sketch” every day, by picking up a dollar bill from our pockets. The “divine true sketch” is the Great Seal of the United States. However, a very few people know about profound meaning of this national Emblem. No wonder! The significance of the Great Seal of the United States along with a responsibility for teaching how to read, write and count have been overlooked by our Public Educators for a sake of teaching how to use condoms and how to “feel good about yourself”.

As a result, since the time of Walt Whitman we found ourselves being bankrupts that still bragging to be bankers, moralists proud to be hypocrites, judges devoted to petty issues of “political correctness” instead of the Supreme Law of the Land, leaders proclaiming own immature actions as a responsible leadership, arts becoming useless, and shamelessly turned into portraying sexual deviations... Is this a “masterpiece” we intend to passe to “further, spheres...” ourselves? No, this is not!

Lucky we are! We always have the “divine true sketch” before our eyes, and, therefore, we all have a never exhausted opportunity to return to original principals of “the architects of These States”. We just need to look at the “sketch” again and strongly remind ourselves who we are, and what we do, or rather what we originally were ordered to do on the Historic Stage.

On the obverse of the Great Seal of the United States “Eagle displayed, on the Summit of a Doric Column“, and “the Shield is born on the breast of an American Eagle without any other supporters, to denote that the United States of America ought to rely on their own Virtue". This is the key Principle for defining the Nation’s Mission on the Historic Stage and identifying National Character being able of accomplishing that Mission.

The Doric order was the simplest and sturdiest of all three orders of the ancient Greek architecture. It directly points out to the Golden Age, that is the ultimate dream of everlasting peace, prosperity, and joy for people on the earth. However, the Golden Age is not just one of those utopist dreams that may never come true. The Golden age is the historic precedent. It had happened once in the real life and therefore, can and must happen again.

The true historic existence of the Golden Age is described  by Greek poet Hesiod, and later confirmed by great Greek philosophers Plato, and Greek poet Ovid.

Hesiod tells of "A golden race of mortal men who lived in the time of Kronos when he was reigning in heaven. And they lived like gods without sorrow of heart, remote and free from toil: miserable age rested not on them . . . The fruitful earth unforced bare them fruit abundantly and without stint. They dwelt in ease and peace upon their lands with many good things."

Similarly writes Ovid in the sixth book of his Metamorphoses: "In the beginning was the Golden Age, when men of their own accord, without threat of punishment, without laws, maintained good faith and did what was right. . . . The earth itself, without compulsion, untouched by the hoe, unfurrowed by any share, produced all things spontaneously. . . . It was a season of everlasting spring."

In Works and Days Hesiod divided time into five ages:--the Golden age, ruled by Cronos,"these days are a great blessing to men on earth" when people lived extremely long lives "without sorrow of heart"; the Silver age, ruled by Zeus; the Bronze age, an epoch of war; the Heroic age, the time of the Trojan war; and lastly the Iron age, the corrupt present. The idea of a Golden Age has had a profound impact on the western thought. There is no doubt that the Golden Age was a realistic dream on minds of “the architects of These States ” too.

The most eloquent part of the Great Seal of the United States leading to the aspirations of the Golden Age is  three Latin mottos: “E pluribus unum” (Out of many one), “Annuit coeptis" (He has favored all our undertakings), and "Novus ordo seclorum" (New order of ages). These three mottos precisely define the Nation’s Historic Mission on the Historic Stage: to always strive for forming the future Golden Age, and identify key property of National Character necessary for forming the Golden Age. (Read More... )

These mottos directly correlate to the Preamble of the Constitution of the United States that orders “to form a more perfect Union”. However, the amazing thing is that all these profound philosophical concepts are present and naturally involved in every day life of all American people. There is no man, woman, or even child in the United States who is deprived from possessing them. Moreover, all these ideas are an integral part of the “exchange of values” on the Market Place, and the “blood circulation” of the Nation.

There is no American who does not have this “divine true sketch” of “useful Arts” in his possession. It is always available for checking the road map to the future of the Nation - the Golden Age. It always  reminds the true Historic Mission of the Nation - to set a model of the Golden Age for the rest of the entire World. It points out to a reliance on “own Virtue” by National Character necessary "to form a more perfect Union” with everlasting peace, prosperity and joy for ourselves and our Posterity.

Definition of Battle with Terror

"As long as the United States are a soft target for terrorist attacks on own territory, the country is being both under siege, and the entire U.S. civilian population is being taken as a collective hostage by Islamic terrorists."

Conventional siege warfare in Medieval Europe

Definition of Battle with Terror - Unconventional Siege Warfare

Battle with Terror cannot be qualified as either pure offensive, or pure defensive warfare. Although, it has many distinctive elements of both. The obscure nature of battle with Terror, and particular U.S. homeland battle, needs to be defined, recognized, and accepted, as unconventional total siege warfare with systematic and persistent efforts by aggressors-terrorists to attack and destroy defensive structures, economy, the civilian society of the United States at large, and finally, brake the will of the Nation to resist.

This long-term terrorist siege requires anti-siege weaponry and anti-siege techniques that could be more advanced and effective compare to siege weapons and siege techniques utilized by terrorists. The wide arsenal of terrorist siege weapons, or rather Instruments of Mass Terror, includes terrorist Ideological Weaponry (Read More...), terrorist Economic Weaponry (Read More...), and Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Among terrorist siege techniques are all sorts of threatening statements, false alarms, blackmailing, taking hostages, provocative demands, public executions, and etc.

The current terrorist siege of the United States hindered by an additional trouble: the Nation is actually being taken as a collective hostage by terrorists. A clear indication of this unprecedented all-National hostage crisis is a marginal ability, or better to say natural “disability” of the U.S. Government to protect, preserve, and defend every single man, every single woman, and every single child against terrorist attacks on the American soil.

As long as the United States is a soft target for terrorist attacks on own territory, the country is being both under siege, and the entire U.S. civilian population is being taken as a collective hostage by International terrorists. In order to stay alive in this type of warfare, the Nation ought to possess the following three most important properties:

1. Invincible fighting Spirit of homeland defenders with ardent consent and ideological accord of the U.S. population to resist aggressors, usually called “the will of the Nation“;

2. Economic means to provide all basic material necessities required to sustain fighting Spirit and performance of U.S. homeland defenders, as well as reasonable high standard living conditions of the U.S. civilian population, for as long as being under terrorist siege;

3. Advanced fortifications that are suitable for terrorist total siege warfare and capable of preventing terrorist’s efforts to attack and destroy cities, towns, and villages in the United States with conventional weapons and Weapons of Mass Destruction; advanced fortifications turning the United States into anti-terrorist country-citadel. (Read More...)

Fragile America

"The United States of America is more fragile today than it was in 1861. It is more fragile than at any time since the adoption of the Constitution. Decay, Economic Downturn and Revolution

One day the United States, as we know it, will disappear and Washington, D.C. will not be the capital of a great nation. But before history reaches this moment, millions of Americans will experience the greatest economic reversal of all time. Consider the logic of this scenario. If America is destined to disappear, the first warning signs will be on the economic front. And now we see the signs, all around. Those who favor U.S. power should be worried. America’s military advantage exists as an economic corollary, and the economic news is bad. There have been trade imbalances. An enormous amount of debt has been acc-umulated, and the dollar is falling fast. Continued...

Global Battle of Good and Evil

Fighting the Evil of Islamic Terrorism placed the United States on an exceptionally adverse battlefield analogous to using in battle light cavalry corps of the time of Napoleonic Wars against heavy tank units of World War II.” - Boris Tiraspolsky

Bitter Lessons of the Global War on Terror

The Global War on Terrorism brings more questions then answers, at the present time. For instance, on the February 26th of 1993 the United States became a target for terrorist attacks by Islamic jihadists on own territory. Battle against Terrorism had begun on the American soil!

Since then, the United States mobilized entire military, entire intelligence, entire law enforcement to fight Terrorism worldwide. In spite of all that, in more then fourteen years the Nation continues to be in danger of direct ominous terrorist attacks by International and homegrown terrorists. Why?

Why did the brilliant anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan and triumphant military campaign to liberate Iraq turned to be just tactical achievements of the United States in the Global War on Terror?

In contrast, every new terrorist act by Islamic jihadists, regardless of a size and success is in fact a strategic defeat of the United States. The answer seems simple, but hard to digest: worldwide battle against Terrorism is newest type of warfare that the United States are conducting with “old good” strategy and tactics of wars of the past.

One of the strategic lessons of the War on Terror is that terrorists are not just “little enemy”. They are the latest type of international aggressor managed to wage worldwide war that was never fought before in the History of the Mankind.

Islamic jihadist's global strategy combined with tactics of suicide bombings brought never confronted before ideologically charged techno-intelligent ongoing battle on omnipresent encircled battlefield with a center everywhere and circ-umference nowhere.

The “ideological” part of this extraordinary line of attack adapted by Islamic jihadists consists of a human sacrifice for a sake of complete destruction of the “infidel”, “manipulative”, and “decadent” Western Civilization and establishing the Islamic Caliphate ruled by the Islamic Law, as the Supreme Law of the Land.

The terrorist’s “techno-intelligent” part utilizes all latest developments in modern weaponry, including potential usage of Weapons of Mass Destruction in order to achieve the desired “ideological“ goal.

Another strategic lesson of the Global War on Terror is that terrorists have to be combated equally effective on all fronts, domestically and worldwide. Otherwise, these international aggressors continue to maintain their full capability of striking with any weapons, at any time, and any place.

Hence, as long as the United States remain to be a direct target for terrorist attacks, the terrorist’s “Invisible Hand” is actually in control of battlefield, at very least. And it is impossible to compensate this existing fundamental strategic weakness by performing most impressive tactical operations.

Obviously, that one who controls the atypical battlefield in this obscure terrorist warfare is the one who determines the course of all actions in worldwide battle.

Islamic jihadism, as a global form of Terror armed with powerful ideology, economics, modern technology, potentially Weapons of Mass Destruction irreversibly changed a strategic paradigm of modern warfare.

The latter is not about a wining or loosing battle anymore, it is all about either a partial survival, or total annihilation of Nations and States. This is another bitter, yet most important lesson one should learn in this battle of Good and Evil.

Islamic Jihad vs. Western Civilization

Islamic jihad is on a rise all over the World, and representing the most immediate threat to security of the United States at the present time. It has been rapidly transformed into World Power in recent years. It has no fear, it is self-determined, and openly intended to “wipe out from the World Map” entire states and nations.

Islamic jihad characterizes exceptionally effective arrangements of political, economic, social, and cultural parts forming most powerful, flexible, and single-minded whole commonly called Islamic Terrorism. The latter should be more precisely called Islamic Terrorist World System. It unites millions of “visible”, and “invisible” ideological, financial supporters, and suicide combatants forming the military part of the System.

Islamic terrorists disguise own inhuman face with a mask of “moral fiber”. They demand “social justice”, and insist on “equal rights” both, domestically and on the International Arena. Islamic terrorists shamelessly take advantage of “democratic” elections in controlled by them territories. They legitimately win elections, and then even more skillfully continue their aggression against the Western Civilization.

Utilizing historically proven to be successful “divide and conquer” approach, Islamic Terrorism has become a clear and present danger to the very existence of the United States. Needless to remind, that the Law and Order are fundamental principles of the Western Civilization. Therefore, first and foremost terrorist attacks directed against the existing Law and Order everywhere and anywhere in the World.

Recent unparalleled global expansion of Islamic Terrorism could be compared with malignant cells of cancer slowly, but surely taking over healthy cells in body of the Western Civilization, and finally annihilating it. In contrast, resistance to Islamic jihad all over the World and by the United States in particular, has not currently a well articulate anti-terrorist System of either Ideological and/or Economic Instruments and Forces, yet, that are capable of slowing down the further triumph of Islamic Terrorism. (Read more...)

Right in the middle of the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg, and France lies a small nation best known to most WW2 buffs as Hitler's doormat to France (the route Hitler took as he bypassed the Maginot Line), and often referred to as "the battlefield of Europe." Many wars have been faught on its soil, including the Battle of the Ardennes in WWI, the Battle of France, and the Battle of the Bulge in WW2. It has been dominated for much of its history, a campground of the Merovingians, Carolingians, and the Romans. Charles V even called it his for a while, and France once "annexed" it. (Yes, France!) Only during a brief period during the late 1800's did it enjoy any real influence, and that was granted by the Berlin Conference, rather than won. Continued...
